Shooting at Howe Park Injures Four People Injured in Sacramento County's Arden-Arcade Neighborhood

Sacramento authorities are probing a shooting incident that took place on the evening of April 18 at Howe Community Park in the Arden-Arcade area at the moment officers were breaking up an unauthorized event of Arden Arcade shooting April 2026 an estimated several hundred individuals.

What Led to the Shooting

Law enforcement were first called to the park at approximately half past six in the evening after obtaining information of subjects reportedly carrying hidden weapons. Not long after, a follow-up call was made describing a possible physical fight breaking out inside the park.

A sheriff's airship flew over the park but reported no active disturbance. Regardless, deputies found that an enormous crowd had assembled at the park without any permit or approval.

The Shooting Itself

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies set about removing people from the park by surrounding the park and announcing over their public address systems ordering the hundreds present to disperse at once. About 15 minutes were given for attendees to disperse.

While deputies worked to disperse the gathering that between 20 and 25 rounds cut through the air. Gunfire sparked chaos as hundreds ran. Law enforcement wasted no time in searching for victims.

Four Gunshot Victims

In total, four victims were located with gunshot injuries. The shooting victims — a group of one female and three male victims all reportedly in their early to late twenties — were airlifted or driven to area medical facilities. Emergency physicians indicated that two were treated for serious injuries, one person had injuries of a moderate nature, and one suffered minor injuries. In a positive development, all four were in stable condition.

Sacramento Metro Fire were called to the scene and helped triage shooting victims on location.

The Investigation

The main crime scene seemed to have been concentrated on the Cottage Way corridor alongside the Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. CSI personnel located additional spent rounds throughout the Cottage Way area. Bullet damage were observed in the wrought iron perimeter fencing near the nearby Home Depot. This evidence confirmed that one of the gunmen had been shooting in a southerly direction from along Cottage Way toward the Home Depot store. The store itself was locked down while the scene was active. CSI units alongside detectives remained on scene throughout the night.

Arrests Made

Information obtained over scanner radio traffic established that a suspect Kia had been detained in Solano County California. Four people were detained. Sheriff's units were heading to pick up the four detainees to return them to Sacramento for processing in Sacramento County. Footage analyzed by investigators made clear that there were two gunmen.
